Get ready to enjoy a foodie’s dream in Barbados this October with the Barbados Food and Rum festival. Considered the premier culinary event in the Caribbean for over a decade, the Food and Rum festival is a four-day festival featuring eight signature events so the weekend’s calendar.

This year’s event takes place from October 24 through October 27, 2024, and will welcome headliners chef Michael O’Hare, chef Wandile Mabaso and chef Renee Blackman. In addition to the official weekend of events, the whole month of October is dotted with pop-up food events around the island featuring talent of the festival.

An open invitation on the official website bills the event as an opportunity for patrons to:

In 2023, the Barbados Food and Rum festival was awarded the Caribbean’s Best Culinary Festival by World Culinary Awards and is described as the Ultimate Foodie Dream Weekend.

The Barbados Food and Rum festival has been going strong since 2009 and has featured international culinary stars including Emmy Award-winning chef and restaurateur Ming Tsai; Iron Chef Jose Garces; celebrity chefs Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson and Mark McEwan; English Michelin-star chef Tom Aikens; and, sommelier Anthony Giglio.

American Airlines at Grantley Adams International

To gear up for the winter season and the inevitable rush of travelers, additional flights to Barbados and increased flight rotations are usually announced in the fall. This fall, Delta Airlines will resume service to Barbados out of Atlanta from November 23, and WestJet will increase flights to four times a week starting October 28 out of Lester B. Pearson International Airport.

Nevertheless, the usual flights to Barbados from major global gateways remain on airlines including American Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Air Canada.
